We are looking for a Safety Programs Specialist who will play a key role in assisting the Safety & Health department in matters dealing with health and safety Programs. The Specialist will also be assisting in the coordination and facilitation of Safety meetings across the United States.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the managing, coordinating, and facilitation of safety meetings for workgroups within the Safety Department.
Provide a non-competitive forum for the exchange of ideas and experiences on safety improvement for participating committee representatives.
Disseminate information within and across regions and other identified committees.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with AFPM member company representatives.
Assist in the composing and maintaining of draft correspondence, materials, and systems (e.g., agendas, white papers, metric reports, meeting minutes, system and member databases).
Provide input and recommendations on how to build, improve, and streamline the programs in the Safety department.
50% of domestic travel required.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in related field with three to five years’ experience
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
Outstanding written and oral communication skills
Preferred Education and Experience
Process or Occupational Safety experience
Working with a trade association or in government position
Working in the Refining or Petrochemical Industries
Experience with committee facilitation in a trade association or similar industry
