KMG is seeking an experienced account executive to serve as chief staff executive for the Pet Industry Distributors Association (www.pida.org). Direct reports include Director, Meetings & Member Services and Director, Online Education. Position is exempt and requires a minimum of 37.5 hrs./week.
The Executive Director will have direct responsibility for management and oversight of all programs of the Pet Industry Distributors Association. Position responsibilities include:
Board leadership and liaison with board chair and executive committee. Production of board agenda and support materials, and board meeting minutes.
Managing support staff of two program directors, association coordinator and financial manager.
Budgeting and oversight of financials.
Planning and execution of annual conference for 300 pp, including site selection, speaker selection, budgeting and marketing.
Oversight of online training program through director of online education.
Planning and oversight of 20-session seminar track at annual trade show, including speaker and topic selection, scheduling, and management of director of meetings and member services.
Liaison with other industry trade associations (Pet Leadership Council, Human Animal Bond Research Institute) and representation of PIDA on the American Pet Products Association board. Attendance at industry trade shows and member events.
Preparation of articles, memos and other communications to membership; drafting regular articles for industry trade press.
Membership recruitment and retention oversight.
Other duties as assigned.
Average of 75 days of travel per year, mostly domestic. Includes some weekend and evening work. May telecommute with minimum of one day per week in KMG offices in Abingdon, MD unless traveling.
Education and Professional Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and minimum of five-years’ experience as chief staff executive of AMC-client association or stand-alone association with budget of $1 million +. CAE preferred. Strong oral, written and electronic communications skills a must.
Telecommuting is allowed.
