The Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA) is a professional association for CPAs in Massachusetts. We represent close to 11,000 members, providing information and resources, continuing education, networking opportunities and advocacy.
The Membership Specialist will be responsible for supporting all Membership activities – recruitment and retention, member services and engagement; oversight of the membership database, data collection and integrity and reporting; and providing assistance with other department activities.
Membership Retention, Recruitment and Engagement
Assist in the execution of membership recruitment and retention campaigns.
Manage the Big 4 and Firm Sponsored Membership Programs, maintaining contact with firm administrators during the year.
Manage, track, and evaluate membership dues for renewals and new member applications from prospects.
Manage membership dues renewal process: assign billing classes; post billing for new members; manage dues adjustments, dues refunds and dues-related inquiries from members.
Analyze trends in membership to advise membership strategy
Assist with overseeing the committee program.
Attend membership events and interact with members.
Update database reports and fields to ensure the entered data and queries are maintained according to the specific guidelines.
Advise and train staff on database functionality and features.
Manage the accurate and timely entry of all incoming member and prospect data.
Prepare membership reports, charts, mailing lists and special reports.
Collect and integrate prospective member data from outside sources.
Interface with database vendor and outside vendors to coordinate changes and enhancements to the database.
Coordinate dues payment transactions with accounting.
Work across departments to assist in data needs
Provide high-level of customer service on a day to day basis, respond to requests, resolve problems, assist and answer questions from members and prospects.
Troubleshoot and follow-up on issues with the database, online community and online membership application, registration and renewal processes.
Oversee the Find a CPA Directory Program.
Coordinate or delegate special projects as assigned.

Requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of membership, marketing or data management experience.
Association management or nonprofit environment work experience preferred.
Advanced skill level with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), specifically Excel.
Understanding of SQL is a plus
Experience with membership database software or a CRM database preferred but not required.
Demonstrate high level of customer/member service.
Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Creative and innovative thinker for improving processes and creating new programs and promotions for membership.
Ability to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships, lead and participate on teams.
Work independently with minimal instruction.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Some night and evening event work is required (must have car or means of transportation).
