Manager, Meetings and Events
National Grocers Association
The National Grocers Association is seeking a Manager, Meetings and Events to manage the administration and logistics for the association’s conferences, meetings and events.
Responsibilities: Serves as the primary point of contact for all NGA conferences, meetings and event related activities; Ability to concurrently manage multiple multi-faceted, complex meetings and events; Manages site and vendor selection processes including RFP creation, response consideration and contract negotiation; Manages conference and meeting budgets and projections; Manages food and beverage and audio visual orders and creates diagrams, floor plans and/or room sets for all meetings and events; Creates and administers event asset (units, banners, signs, badges, etc.) management process; Provides on-site leadership and support for all conferences, meetings and events; Creates event staffing plans and manages temporary staff and volunteers on-site; Conducts post-event evaluation, reconciles accounts and processes payment for invoices; Assists with the creation of event strategies and makes recommendations to improve event and meeting programming; Works with all staff to develop and implement meetings strategies for their respective departments; Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in appropriate area of specialization e.g., hospitality, tourism, event management, or related field; Three or more years of relevant experience preferably in an association setting; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Demonstrated interpersonal skills that inspire confidence, respect and trust; Recognizes the importance of volunteer leadership and participation; Demonstrated literacy in the use of technology as it relates to organizational management, education, and professional development; Strong work ethic, attention to detail and able to work cooperatively in a small, team environment; Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets; Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment; CMP certification preferred; Ability to travel extensively.
