Subject Matter Expert: •Provide appropriate communication and guidance to members addressing regulatory, licensure and policy questions. •Advise the association and membership on the regulatory aspects and climate that could affect proposed activities. •Serve as primary regulatory representative responsible for facilitating all regulatory agency interactions. •Government Affairs Committee – prepare agendas and minutes for committee meetings, with the chair, facilitate all meetings and follow through on comment letters, committee priorities and projects. •Manage communications to the client members and the association.
Communications: •Produce and edit e-newsletters for members—includes both national and state information. •Update all members as needed. •Utilize MailChimp effectively for mode of mass communication. •Create and distribute bulletins for specific, important topics.
Education: •Provide program planning, content research, facilitation and member engagement for trainings and seminars around identified pertinent topics. •Educate members on relevant topics using GoToWebinar.
Public Policy and Advocacy: •Monitor legislative and administrative policies that impact the related industry. •Work with contract lobbyist on legislative strategies. •Prepare position papers identifying public policy issues, their impact on the health industry and recommended actions. •Attend webcasts, conference calls, and meetings national partners. •Government Affairs Committee - prepare agendas and minutes for committee meetings, with the chair facilitate all meetings and follow through on committee priorities and projects. •Serve as primary contact for state and national public policy issues. •Organize/maintain a system for responding to advocacy alerts in a timely manner. •Coordinate state lobby day and advocacy efforts with Illinois legislators. •Maintain relationships with state department heads. •Provide written and verbal reports at board meetings. •Attend meetings and other state activities, as necessary.
Qualifications: •Ability to use data in shaping policy messages. •Experience in coalition-building and working in a team environment. •Ability to communicate complex information clearly in writing and in oral presentations to a range of audiences. •Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. •Internal and External Customer Service Skills: timely, professional and appropriate customer service skills both in office and to all members, external stakeholders (both state and federal). •Interpersonal Communication Skills: communicate timely and effectively in both individual and group meetings, phone calls, conferences, emails. •Critical Thinking/Problem Solving Skills: Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills evident through education planning for topics and speakers, ability to convey problematic issues facing our members to external customers (state agencies, legislators, etc.). •Mutual Respect/Appreciation/Teamwork Skills. •Technology Skills. •Bachelor’s or higher degree in a related field preferred.
