The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE®) is looking for a full-time Senior Director of Finance (CFO) to be ISTE's financial leader spearheading management of all financial processes and strategy development. This individual will provide vision and leadership in the automation of financial processes and provide managers with the financial information required to drive growth. Essential Functions • Serve as a trusted adviser to the leadership team and budget directors, assisting with their financial plans and economic modeling. • Assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and ISTE’s long-term strategy. • Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the leadership team and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations. • Manage the annual audit and preparation of all periodic income tax returns. • Oversee long-term budgetary planning and expense management in alignment with ISTE’s strategic plan. • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, regulatory requirements, and audit requirements. • Partner with the CTO to implement specialized finance systems that meet the needs of the organization. • Manage cash flow and forecasting, and payroll. • Mentor and develop the finance team. • Ensure financial security and accountability by developing and enforcing all fiscal policies and procedures, including appropriate internal financial controls. • Track and manage grants and restricted funds.
Minimum Qualification Guidelines • Seasoned and mature leader with at least 5-8 years of broad finance experience. • Experience managing the finance function (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting) within a diverse, division-based entity. • A minimum of a BS; MBA preferred; a CPA would be a plus. • An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be acceptable. Also desired: • Past experience successfully partnering with IT staff to manage critical financial management systems. Experience with the Intacct application as well as budgeting systems like Adaptive Insights is preferred. • Deep understanding of and experience in managing annual audits and tax preparations. • Nonprofit experience is preferred. • Proven creativity in funding activities in ways that both cover costs and generate operating margins. • Experience with federal grants is preferred.
