Development and Foundation, Health, Project Management/Program Development
Summary: The American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM) is seeking a Development Director for its Programs and Policy functions.
Program Management and Operations:
Work with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to help manage overall organizational operations and set/implement organizational visions and goals.
Work directly with Executive Director, Board of Directors and Education Committee to develop, oversee and execute key medical education programs.
Act as primary point of contact within the organization for funders; communicate with them on matters related to proposed and current grants.
Maintain existing relationships and cultivate new partnerships with private medical education companies for the delivery of high-end, HIV medical education.
Seek resources that will sustain current program activities and enable future capabilities.
Completing and organizing all required pieces of grant application process including budgets, budget narratives, administrative requirements and final reconciliation submissions.
Manage personnel within the development / education department to ensure fulfillment of grants/programs. (one program manager will report, along with assistance/support from the member director and comms director)
Establish new connections with major funders and creating ideas for policy projects; engage in grant writing to fund this work and all of the policy and advocacy work of the organization.
Work with the Policy Committee and funders to execute proposed research projects on key issues associated with HIV Providers, and produce reports, information graphics, and papers with keen insights into these subjects.
Coordinate federal policy efforts including engagement with federal AIDS policy partners and oversight of U.S. policy landscape via-a-vis HIV providers.
Develop supporting materials to execute the Academy’s positions and strategies, such as position papers, press releases, and action alerts.
Work with Communications staff to announce and promote Academy positions and strategies through updating and revising the website, improving media relations, drafting regular email alerts, etc.
Skills/ Background Requirements
Several years’ experience with grants management/program management
Understanding of the federal legislative, appropriations and budgeting processes
Sufficient knowledge of the Department of Health and Human Services and related agencies
Some HIV knowledge/professional background preferred
