Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, The Associate Director, Meetings & Program Development, is responsible for developing strategy for and managing our annual meeting and conference, STD Engage, and providing logistical support for the National STD Conference sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC). Strategy development includes leveraging relationships with the NCSD Industry Council, Program Committee, and other key stakeholders and funders to reach our strategic goals. Additionally, the Associate Director, Meetings & Program Development will have a key role in developing relationships with meeting sponsors and exhibitors to foster increased conference-related industry funding opportunities. The Associate Director, Meetings & Program Development partners with senior team members and other staff in strategic decision making, organizing cross-division staff responsibilities for meetings, and other logistical tasks as we continue to enhance our meeting and programming capacity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as the lead staff member organizing and executing all aspects of our annual conference and membership meeting and supporting the National STD Conference.
Serves as liaison with the Industry Council and annual conference planning committee, exhibitors and sponsors.
Works closely with the NCSD development strategist and executive director to increase institutional sponsorship and support for NCSD meetings.
Develops and improves meeting operations and meeting quality including using technology for continuous quality improvement.
Cultivates relationships with exhibitors, creates and maintains exhibitor prospectus, and develops strategies to increase exhibitor participation, .
Collaborates with membership, communications, and program staff to develop strategies to increase participation at annual meeting and other organizational offerings.
Manages NCSD exhibit logistics and works with senior team members to decide where to exhibit and who will staff the booth.
Directs annual conference and membership meeting contractors and vendors associated and stays abreast of the latest professional development opportunities for meeting planners.
Assists in the development of the conference and annual meeting budget.
Leads on-site staff management of the annual conference and membership meeting and the National STD Conference.
Oversees and manages logistics and hotel contracts and arrangements for other NCSD meetings and events, including board meetings and other program related meetings.
Serves as the primary contact for annual meeting stakeholders such as speakers and attendees.
Supports the development of reports and other materials for the board of directors on meeting planning activities. Other Duties as Assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree, marketing degree, certificate in meeting planning and/or project management preferred, but not required
At least four to seven years of overall professional experience; ideally four-plus years of broad meeting planning with a national nonprofit association
CMP certificate a plus
Commitment to best practices in training programs that maximize individual and organization goals, using the latest developments in meeting planning technology and creativity
A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills that support and enable sound decision making
Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Flexible and innovative with proven ability execute work plans with minimal supervision.

Founded in 1997, the National Coalition of STD Directors (NCSD) – a small national nonprofit organization with a mission of advancing effective STD prevention programs and services in every community across the country – provides leadership, builds capacity, convenes partners, and advocates for quality STD prevention. Our members include the 65 CDC directly funded jurisdictions tasked with carrying out the nation’s STD prevention efforts – the health departments of every state, seven large cities/counties, and the U.S.-affiliated territories in the Atlantic and Pacific. Additionally, we have over 2,000 associate members across the country working in the public and private sectors to advance sexual health and STD prevention.
