Membership Coordinator-Acquisition & Member Groups The American Association for Justice (AAJ®), formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA®), is seeking to fill a Membership Coordinator in its Membership Department. AAJ seeks to promote a fair and effective civil justice system—and to support the work of attorneys in their efforts to ensure that any person who is injured by the misconduct or negligence of others can obtain justice in America’s courtrooms, even when taking on the most powerful interests.
AAJ is seeking a Membership Coordinator to: • Support AAJ’s Associate Director with programs and activities of member groups, including the Women Trial Lawyers Caucus, Minority Caucus, LGBT Caucus, and New Lawyers Division. Activities include membership drives, recruitment events, lobby days, and other programs as necessary. • Identify, coordinate, implement, and support recruitment activities and prospect outreach. • Support off-site phone drives and membership events including preparing membership lists, following up on member reimbursements, and tracking conversion rates. • Serve as the Membership Concierge for President’s Club members. • Develop and implement a President’s Club onboarding, engagement, and retention strategy. • Serve as a point of contact on marketing campaigns related to member groups. • Develop reports and perform a high-level analysis of data to identify problem areas, trends, and demographic data. Use that data to make recommendations to increase the effectiveness of membership acquisition campaigns and events. • Follow up and identify member leads and prospects through data mining. • Support department efforts to increase diversity within the membership, including working with members of the Membership Oversight Committee. • Support additional special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelors’ degree in any field from an accredited college or university. • Minimum of 2 years of membership or customer service experience. Prior association and/or non-profit experience preferred. • Working knowledge and experience in NetForum or similar Association Management System (AMS). • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint). • Attention to detail. • Experience in managing multiple tasks within deadlines. • Ability to work within a team environment, share the workload, and the ability to work independently. • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. • Ability to build rapport with clients • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with external and internal customers. • Some travel required (2-4 times per year).
