340B Health has an immediate opening for a Director of Government Relations at our growing non-profit health care trade association. This position reports directly to the Vice President (VP) of Government Relations.
The Director of Government Relations will work closely with the Vice President of GR to shape the strategies and tactics needed to effectively represent the organization on Capitol Hill and throughout the 340B provider community. The Director will play an integral role in expanding on existing and cultivating new relationships with Congressional offices and outside organizations as well as work closely with 340B Health member hospitals to engage in advocacy and educate them on legislative matters impacting their program.
Work with the Vice President of Government Relations, in concert with the legal and policy team to implement 340B Health’s policy agenda on Capitol Hill and with the Administration
Engage in direct lobbying to cultivate strategic relationships with bipartisan offices and Committees on Capitol Hill
Assist in the development of legislative and regulatory strategies
Represent the organization at 340B Coalition or other external meetings
Participate in all aspects of 340B Health’s Political Action Committee, including attending fundraising events on behalf of the organization
Lead analysis of proposed legislative policies and help determine the potential impact on the organization’s membership
Draft policy documents, one-pagers, Congressional testimony and other materials as needed
Maintain current knowledge of relevant health policies and proposals impacting 340B hospitals
Present on 340B Health member webinars, at two annual conferences and regional roundtables throughout the year
Regularly oversee interactions with outside consultants and lobbyists
Work with VP of Government Relations to ensure the team is effectively meeting and tracking departmental goals
Identify creative ways to execute legislative priorities and meet departmental goals
Ensure team compliance with the Lobbying Disclosure Act and file quarterly reports on behalf of the organization

A minimum of 8 -10 years combined experience working on Capitol Hill and with a government relations team at a trade association or lobby shop
A high-level performer who thinks strategically and sees the big picture while remaining attentive to details and deliverables
A passion for advocating for low-income and rural patients served by our hospitals
A collaborative, team approach and desire to work with a four-person in-house GR team
Demonstrated knowledge of the federal legislative process including authorizing and appropriations processes
Excellent oral and communication skills
Ability to juggle competing and often urgent priorities
Ability to travel at least twice a year including domestic overnight stays
Some travel required including mandatory attendance at our annual national conference in California.
