ASAE helps associations, and the professionals who lead, manage, and work in them, transform society through the power of collaboration. We are looking for someone to join our team as a Senior Director, Member Relations. The position is responsible for the strategic direction and management of membership development, recruitment, and retention for ASAE. The Senior Director also acts as senior staff liaison to the Membership Section Council. This position is responsible for the programs, practices, and processes that generate approximately 15% or more of the society’s income from membership dues.
Specific Responsibilities include:
Develops and directs a comprehensive marketing program for membership recruitment and retention, including conducting direct mail campaigns; website content and development; managing and motivating member volunteers to participate in various programs; writing and producing promotional materials; developing and directing ongoing membership marketing activities; analyzing results; and implementing new strategies and programs. All of these activities directly impact the organization’s financial and membership goals.
Provides strategic direction and financial planning of membership department as it relates to ASAE and The Center’s strategic goals.
Directs, supervises and motivates the member relations staff to successfully achieve both personal and professional goals as they relate to the strategic goals of the organization.
Manages relationships with ASAE & The Center departments to coordinate numerous membership activities, operational and budgetary issues, volunteers and task force activities, and to motivate and educate staff to participate in membership promotion and development.
Serves as senior liaison to the Membership Section Council whose primary objective is to serve as content expert in the functional area of membership. Oversees the strategic direction of this volunteer group and their participation in the Annual Meeting and the Membership Marketing Conference.
Represents ASAE and The Center at key industry events through public speaking, exhibiting and direct sales activities.
Manages and negotiates relationships with vendors to ensure appropriate product/services are delivered timely, successfully, and within budget.
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, English, Communications, or related field; graduate degree in Business or Marketing helpful.
Proven experience in marketing, writing promotional copy, direct sales, direct mail, staff supervision, managing volunteers, budgeting, financial management and analysis, short and long-range planning, and public speaking. Experience in production and printing helpful.
Minimum 5-7 years in association management or sales and marketing experience directly related to association management.
