The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for working collaboratively with the Board of Directors in leading the transformation of Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota to an organization capable of delivering on its long-term vision. The CEO is responsible for ensuring that fiscal, operations, fundraising, marketing, human resources, technology, and programmatic strategies are effectively planned and implemented across all segments of the organization. The CEO will direct the agency in providing social ministry to individuals, churches, groups, and communities while ensuring program and organizational integrity. The CEO must meet the obligations of its funders and grant responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Vision and Leadership: Collaborates with the BOD to refine and implement strategic plans while ensuring that budget, staff, and priorities are aligned with the core mission, vision and values; provides inspirational leadership and direction to all executives and directors to ensure continued development and management of the organization; empowers and collaborates effective decision-making processes that enable achievement of long- and short-term goals and objectives; and cultivates strong and transparent working relationships with the Board and ensures open communication regarding financial and programmatic measurements.
Public Relations & Development: Ensures funding flow permits the organization to make continuous progress towards the achievement of its mission and that those funds are allocated properly to reflect present needs and future potential; formulates and executes comprehensive marketing, branding and development strategies that will ensure consistency throughout the organization and enhance revenue from major donors, foundations, government agencies, and corporations; ensures and maintains a positive image with the public regarding the Agency; and Develops and maintains strong relationships and open communication with individuals, churches, bishops, and businesses.
Infrastructure and Operations: Ensures the delivery of high quality services while managing for current and future growth; supports, motivates, and engages the organization's staff; facilitates cross-departmental collaboration and strengthens internal communications with staff throughout the organization; creates and promotes a positive, multicultural work environment that supports consistency throughout the organization's strategy, operational methods, and data collection needs; oversees the financial status of the organization including developing long and short range financial plans, monitoring the budget and ensuring sound financial controls are in place; and sets financial priorities accurately to ensure the organization is operating in a manner that supports the needs of the program and staff.
Program Developments: Rationalizes the delivery of programs through new and existing programs and partnerships; and increases efficiencies and consistency throughout the organization by developing and implementing standardized programs, services and program office marketing.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration or related field required - 10-15 Years of overall professional experience with at least 5 years of progressively responsible management required - 3-5 years prior nonprofit experience including management of a multi-site organization required - Significant development and fiscal management experience required - Valid Driver's License required
- Position will travel over 50% of the time throughout the state of North Dakota. - Standard movements with limited physical exertion required. Movements are consistent with what would be found in a normal office setting including exertion of light physical effort for short periods. - Requires exceptional degree of sustained mental concentration with sustained periods of attention, constant deadlines, and a high level of creative thinking. Work involves constant change and the management of conflicting priorities.
