The Common Ground Alliance is seeking an organized, self-motivated Manager of Education and Programs to support CGA’s senior staff. This position will be in CGA’s Alexandria, VA office.
As part of an agile team, the Manager of Education and Programs will be responsible for the creation, delivery, and continuous improvement of compelling educational content that meet the business, networking, and professional development goals of our members and attendees.
A successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation of CGA’s strategic goals and will develop educational programming and content for damage prevention professionals, coordinate abstract submissions and potential speakers, and build relationships with a diverse roster of subject matter experts and partners. CGA is seeking an experienced, consensus-building team-player who will work with staff and external stakeholders, partners, and vendors on a daily basis to deliver exceptional customer service to our members and attendees.
The Education and Program Manager will be responsible for the following:
Managing numerous CGA educational projects and programs including but not limited to session and presentation development, speaker coordination, conference volunteers, abstract submissions, partnership development, and other necessary projects.
Implementing educational programming for multiple CGA events and meetings. This includes working with staff and other stakeholders to develop content and agendas, working with committees, outlining session topics and descriptions, inviting and tracking speakers and accompanying documentation, coordinating and facilitating session planning calls, onsite management of sessions and speakers, assisting with program evaluations, note-taking and other duties necessary to create an exceptional experience for members.
Developing outstanding, customer-focused relationships with speakers, attendees and members as demonstrated by an ability to actively listen, respond creatively, and apply knowledge to determine solutions.
Working with staff and vendors to ensure seamless program development and execution.
Assisting with education software management, including maintaining our speaker database and creating procedures.
Providing accurate and timely reporting.
Working with the staff to evaluate and recommend continuous improvements to our events.
Bachelor’s degree and more than five years of experience developing conference programming in a non-profit organizational environment, or seven plus years combined equivalent of work experience and education, required.
Comprehension of, and commitment to convention and content development best practices.
Self-motivated, proactive consensus builder with the ability to manage workflow and meet goals with little or no supervision.
Experience prioritizing, organizing, and tracking details, effectively managing deadlines and multiple priorities.
Willingness to learn, take initiative, and look for ways to improve processes to achieve greater efficiency in pre-, during-, and post-planning phases. It is critical to be open to feedback in order to improve future performance.
Commitment to strong relationships and quality service to internal team members and external partners and stakeholders; for example, taking the time to understand their objectives so that client and attendee expectations can be exceeded.
Accomplished problem solver with analytical skills. Ability to prioritize both in-the-office and on-site functions despite interruptions.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively to express information in both written and oral context with internal customers, attendees, team members, and vendors.
Experience with event marketing and/or sales operational tasks, including advertising, market development, attendee acquisition, research, outreach, content development, analysis, etc.
Experience with strategic planning process for all meetings and events to ensure continual improvement and quality customer service.
Demonstrated proficiency working across various technology platforms and applications including member/customer management systems.
Some travel, non-traditional work hours, and weekend work required.
