Florida Health Care Association, Florida’s largest long-term care association representing 82% of the state’s nursing care centers, is seeking a Chief Lobbyist.
The Chief Lobbyist is responsible for managing the Association’s government relations program, and political action and advocacy initiatives. This individual manages the in-house government relations team as well as contract lobbyists to achieve the Association’s legislative goals. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who has a proven track record with influencing public policy, consensus building and engaging internal and external stakeholders, including state and federal policymakers. The Chief Lobbyist is also responsible for managing the Association’s response to supporting long-term care facilities during state of emergency events, such as hurricanes. This individual reports to the Executive Director and regularly interacts with the Board of Directors and other legislative focused member groups.
Functions include but are not limited to:
Directs the process and operation of developing and achieving the Association’s legislative agenda and goals
Promotes the Association’s legislative agenda through strategic relationships with key legislative and regulatory officials and staff
Develops and administers short- and long-term plans for achieving political giving objectives
Monitors legislative, regulatory, policy and political landscape to identify opportunities to advocate for the Association’s priority issues
Directs the Association’s emergency response efforts on behalf of long-term care facilities, including liaisoning with key emergency operations stakeholders and staffing the Florida Division of Emergency Management Emergency Operations Center
Florida Health Care Association is based in Tallahassee, Florida, and is the state affiliate of the American Health Care Association.
Candidates well suited for this role have a master’s degree in legislative affairs or political science with a minimum of 10 years’ experience as a lobbyist as well as political organizing; existing/established political relationships in the State of Florida are ideal.
