Under the direction of the Director, Membership & Engagement, the incumbent is responsible for operationalizing the Society’s existing and future membership engagement, recruitment, and retention strategies. The Associate Director, Membership will co-author and implement membership engagement strategy as informed by the Director, Membership & Engagement and will manage initiatives to achieve key results. Additionally, this role will oversee all activities related to overall administration of Special Interest Groups (SIGs). The incumbent will collaborate with colleagues across the Society to support member needs, partnering closely with other departments to articulate and deliver on our value proposition.
What you’ll bring to the job:
BA/BS degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, International Business, Public Relations, or related field
Minimum of seven years of membership development and engagement experience, preferably with a global scientific or medical society.
Minimum of three years of people management experience
A results-based track record of implementing successful membership growth and retention strategies.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Track record of taking initiative in managing competing organizational and departmental priorities and to work effectively under pressure when facing deadlines.
Strong organizational skills and demonstrated capacity to develop and implement practical strategies, plans, and solutions to identified issues and problems.
Experience working with an Association Management System is required. Experience with NetForum is preferred.
Experience with Breezio or other Community Management System is a plus

What you’ll own:
Articulate the member value proposition and create membership materials that communicate the value proposition
Manage and oversee Community Connect, our platform for Special Interests Groups (SIGs). Collaborate with marketing team and Specialist, Leadership & Member Engagement to develop strategies for maintaining and increasing engagement on Community Connect
Executes the organization's Special Interest Groups' activities by facilitating the flow of information among the SIGs and between the Society. Serves as a secondary Staff Liaison for Special Interest Groups and is responsible for working with the primary liaison to keep SIGs moving forward according to the annual goals and objectives established by the SIG in its annual plan.
Serve as the primary staff liaison to the SIG steer group. This will require becoming thoroughly familiar with all aspects of the SIGs, including the scope of work, subjects under discussion, and association policies related to the SIGs work. Establish a plan for growing the number of special interest groups, including developing a process to recruit volunteer leaders to the special interest groups and developing both onboarding and succession plans for special interest groups
Under the direction of the Director, Membership & Engagement, manage the successful execution of membership development projects including ongoing enhancement of all membership communications, materials, and web presence in collaboration with marketing team
Participate in a cross-functional team as it relates to membership engagement and global activities
Identify, track, and report key member satisfaction and demographic metrics regularly using Netforum AMS
Engage in ongoing outreach to establish and maintain a strong relationship with our members
Execute and oversee our member on-boarding plan(s)
Collaborate with Marketing and IT to develop and utilize analytics and tools to measure member touchpoints and transactions to leverage member value of products and services
Collaborate with other key performance areas (KPAs) to develop and execute member and customer surveys and other outreach to determine program and service needs
Work with the Director, Membership & Engagement and marketing team to develop and execute booth strategies for in-person meetings. Collaborate with meetings and marketing teams in designing our annual meeting membership exhibit booth to ensure high traffic and engagement
Collaborate with the marketing team to develop conference and tradeshow strategies and operationalize to target specific goals (i.e. membership, product sales, registration for meetings, etc.)
Support the Director, Membership & Engagement in executing all activities related to annual meeting membership booth including promotion, staffing, material, shipment, and training of staff
Through demonstrating superior customer service, serve as primary point of contact to troubleshoot and resolve escalated member relations issues
Support the Director, Membership & Engagement in the development of first-time attendee events at the Annual Meeting
Manage and coordinate initiatives for member expansion to include domestic program directors and international membership and identify potential key targets and engagement strategies
Support the Director, Membership & Engagement in developing and operationalizing new membership model designs to include group memberships and pricing strategies
