We are announcing an exciting opportunity for a mission-driven professional to serve as an Assistant Vice President in the Council Relations Department. About the Team Council Relations is a diverse and dynamic team that works with NCARB’s members, the 55 U.S. architectural licensing boards, to help implement national licensure programs and advocate for reasonable regulation. This team also builds NCARB’s external partnerships and coalitions and assists the leadership of the Board of Directors in appointing and supporting volunteers. About the Position The Assistant Vice President for Member Relations and Volunteer Engagement works collaboratively with the Vice President and peers across the Council to implement the vision, strategy and organizational member engagement goals and objectives for the Council. This individual is responsible for planning and supervising the work of a 4-person team. As a key liaison to our NCARB’s member boards, the incumbent oversees the development of resources and services to support their public health, safety and welfare responsibilities. They play an important role facilitating the volunteer appointment process contributing to the organization of diverse and effective committees. They oversee the project to reach a more diverse pool of member board members for Governors to appoint to licensing boards. They also help lead the development of the vision for, and execution of, major Council meetings for the members. Work Location Due to current COVID-19 related precautions, the position is temporarily 100% remote. Although we may consider candidates who live outside of the Washington, DC metro area, the preference is to hire locally. Duties As part of your duties, you will: Member Relations - Serve as a primary resource to Member Board on Council programs, services, rules and regulations.
- Foster a mutually transparent relationship between the Council and its member boards.
- Develop and implement a board engagement strategy to promote adoption of NCARB’s model standards and national programs.
- Identify needs for additional services for member boards.
- Support relationship between member boards and Council staff.
- Assist with budget development for member board-related activities.
Volunteer Engagement - Working with NCARB staff, executive leadership, and the president-elect, facilitate the process to develop goals for committee work, recruit volunteers, and place them where they can be most effective in supporting the development of policy proposals for the Council.
- Serve as a staff liaison for committees and task forces.
Qualifications At a minimum, you have: - Bachelor's Degree or a combination of substantial related experience, education and training may substitute.
- 8 years of relevant experience with at least 3 or more years of experience in a policy, legal, regulatory and/or national association environment or related field.
- Demonstrated success in a customer or member relations position.
- Demonstrated proficiency using technology and a wide variety of software applications to include Adobe (PDF) Applications and Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of time, including weekends.
