Who we are looking for: ASCO is in search of a highly-motivated Volunteer Services Manager to manage the volunteer program including the member volunteer life cycle process of recruitment, application, selection, onboarding and orientation, assessment, and recognition. The selected candidate will serve as the volunteer management resource for ASCO staff by providing guidance, resources, tools as well as orientation to guide them to help members succeed in their volunteer roles.
Responsibilities
Review volunteer management policies and procedures which guide the volunteer program and reflect the overall values of the organization; identify gaps in policies and make recommendations as needed
Communicate volunteer management policies to members and staff to ensure they understand and are in compliance.
Work with Governance team to ensure volunteer groups have updated charges and goals
Manage the volunteer selection process by confirming eligibility, diversity, conflict of interest, sending out invitations, and develop and manage communication to volunteers and applicants
Manage the committee acceptance portal, and verify completion of volunteer acceptance/agreement
Manage volunteer portal website and liaise with ASCO departments to ensure data integrity of the volunteer database and compliance with business processes and timelines and provide training and quality assurance of the database
Manage the volunteer onboarding and orientation process including developing and distributing information to volunteer staff liaison that support this process
Lead the training and orientation of volunteer staff liaison in a timely manner to ensure they have all the tools they need to successfully manage their volunteer groups
Develop and disseminate volunteer operation guidelines, forms and templates for volunteer staff liaison for efficiency and consistency across the program
In partnership with Communications, develop and implement innovative marketing techniques to promote volunteer opportunities to potential volunteers
Manage the volunteer recognition process including working with IT to ensure the CRM system is configured to meet business needs
Required Education and Experience
5 plus years’ of experience in volunteer management, membership development, membership engagement, governance, and/or in association management working with volunteers
Bachelor’s degree
Solid project management skills
Proficiency working with Microsoft products and a willingness to adapt to new technology
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and to complete a high volume of work and meet deadlines with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to foster and build relationships within all levels of the organization as well as with members and VIPs
Excellent collaboration and communication skills
