We are currently seeking a Director of Regulatory Affairs to join our team.
The Director of Regulatory Affairs is primarily responsible for monitoring, analyzing, developing responses and policy recommendations on federal regulations emanating from federal agencies on matters relevant to health information and health information professionals that align with AHIMA’s mission and vision. This position reports directly to the VP of Policy and Government Affairs and does not have any supervisory responsibilities but will have substantive authority over several key regulatory issues and will directly engage with federal agency policymakers.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Policy Issues (35%)
Identify, monitor, and respond to relevant federal regulatory policy issues that emanate from federal agencies and that impact health information and health information professionals. Particular focus is on health IT but may include 42 CFR restrictions, price transparency, social determinants of health, and FCC programs.
Education (20%)
Educate AHIMA staff and membership about current and proposed policy issues.
Communication (20%)
Liaison with federal agency officials and other stakeholders to communicate impact of policies on health information professionals and generate new and revised policies that meet the needs of health information professionals.
Collaboration (15%)
Work and coordinate with other departments within AHIMA including Professional Development and Marketing and Communications to ensure maximum understanding of, and impact of federal policies on health information and health information professionals.
Implementation (10%)
Support implementation of advocacy events and coalition building, including implementation of annual Advocacy Summit.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
At least 5-7 years or more of relevant health policy/regulatory experience
Prior regulatory experience preferred
Experience in healthcare policy (including health IT policy) highly desirable
Experience in developing regulatory-related materials
Strong verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
