Job Summary The purpose of this position is to serve as IEEE's expert and point-person for governance committees and staff regarding established professional ethics, conduct, and related governance policies, procedures, and best practices. The individual will provide management and administration to two highly visible and critical committees of the IEEE Board of Directors - the Ethics and Member Conduct Committee (EMCC) and the Conduct Review Committee (CRC). These committees make recommendations for policies and educational programs to promote ethical behavior, spearhead the review and adjudication of alleged professional ethics violations by a member or a non-member involved in IEEE activities, and recommend disciplinary actions, when appropriate. This person will create and manage related communications, presentations, and reports. IEEE's ethical and conduct processes are complex, detail-oriented, and confidential in nature. As a member of IEEE's Corporate Governance team, they must be a valued participant by identifying and facilitating ways to innovate and strengthen IEEE and collaborating cooperatively and comfortably with internal and external IEEE stakeholders to achieve IEEE's This person will report to the Sr. Governance Director within IEEE Corporate Governance while working within a matrixed management team that develops, implements, and evaluates ethics and conduct programming and policies. The position is virtual during the Covid pandemic. Once pandemic subsides, the ideal candidate would report daily to IEEE’s Piscataway, NJ office BUT..outstanding candidates who require a remote, work-from-home arrangement will be considered. Key Responsibilities - Serves as the internal point person and staff secretary to the IEEE Ethics and Member Conduct Committee (EMCC) and the Conduct Review Committee (CRC).
- Works with the chairs, CRC review panels, and IEEE’s Legal and Compliance team to develop and implement plans of work that allow the committees to fulfill their charge.
- Manages case review activities and procedures.
- Assists, when appropriate, proposing services and process improvements to further the committees’ goals and fulfill IEEE’s strategic plan and mission.
- Creates and produces agendas, minutes, and archival documents; manages all EMCC and CRC aspects of meeting planning and provides on-site and remote support.
- Updates approved ethics and conduct codes related policies, procedures, forms, and tools; oversees and works collaboratively to develop and update specific ieee.org webpages.
- Drafts committee and trends reports for review and approval by appropriate stakeholders; facilitates activities’ communications strategically to enhance community awareness.
- Administers all aspects of the EMCC Student Ethics Competition program.
- Maintains a current understanding of changes and trends within the ethics community and advises appropriate stakeholders.
- Acts with discretion; establishes and maintains processes to protect confidential verbal, visual, and written information.
- Participates in the development and implementation of budgets and forecasts.
- Works collaboratively as a member of the Corporate Governance team by providing administrative support and identifying improvements to systems and procedures.
- Conducts and communicates governance-related research such as best practices, industry standards, and benchmarking.
- Performs other duties as assigned to accomplish IEEE’s goals.
